I think timelapse photography is a great medium for learning about worldly processes since it gives one the ability to mess with time and look at the world from a different perspective. That doesn't mean you'll come to a greater understanding of life in the universe by studying timelapse footage but it is a lot of fun and can help you see things you wouldn't have noticed otherwise.
